How could you!?
You tell him, James! That’s exactly what his ass did! How despicable was that?! The irony is lost on Cyrus. Or maybe it isn’t and he knew exactly what he was doing. He uses the weapons forged for use against him (gay man) against another, and does so using his husband as bait! Who does this?
James clearly loves this man, even when Cyrus puts his needs first and relegates James’ needs to the back burner or deems them irrelevant. We’ve seen occasions where Cyrus has emotionally abused James, cutting him down to bite sized pieces and not giving a damn about how it affected his husband. Will James allow himself to be subjected to even more of Cyrus’ abuse? I certainly hope that he’s realized that he can’t trust a damn thing that comes out of his husband’s mouth. Everything he says and does is calculated to be to Cyrus’s advantage and his alone.
What kind of early life did Cyrus experience prior to getting to this point? How did he become this man who would manipulate even his own family to further political agendas? He has shown that there is some humanity underneath the deviousness, but that is regularly pushed aside in favor of accomplishing his set goals. We’ve seen him do this not only with James, but with Mellie and Olivia. (Anyone notice how aside from 301 Olivia and Cyrus haven’t so much as crossed paths this season?)
His emotional breakdown in the White House? Man, I simultaneously cackled with glee over him getting a small dose of his own medicine and felt some sorrow for him. Betrayal hurts him just as much as it does everyone else. It feels quite different when the shoe is on the other foot, doesn’t it? What a complicated web we weave, Cyrus. Looks like he’s getting the ricochet from the bullets he’s fired.
Cyrus has been a man without an anchor for a while now. He’s been flailing around looking for purchase for some time. He just blew up his own marriage. The guy’s no longer Fitz’s confidante. That ship hasn’t been righted since the Defiance revelations. A Chinese wall has gone up and it doesn’t look like Fitz intends to lower it anytime soon. Things are falling apart for Cyrus, and I wonder if his decision to allow Adnan Saleef back into the country is going to prove costly.
It will be really interesting to see where Cyrus and James go from here. Will they be able to come back from this? This seems to be the last straw for James, but he has walked away before and then come back. Will Cyrus be able to get over the fact that his “saintly” husband did what he had always feared and cheated on him? Will Cyrus carry the blame or will he use it as a way to constantly shame James?
I am really glad to see more of Dan Bucatinsky on the show. I love what he brings to the character of James. He and Jeff Perry are brilliant in their portrayals.
That have at least one sinking OTP at ALL times…
I’m soooooooo happy that Calzona is BACK!!!
But Jamus is sinking harder than the letter opener in DD
That is all!
#Scandal, S03E09: Did Sally murder Daniel-Douglas?
Upon reflection, I doubt it. This is Scandal. They always mis-direct their audience. Let’s examine the crime scene…
1. The photos are laid out on Sally’s desk with a magnifying glass. (Let’s hope she wasn’t checking out James. N-E-waze…)
2. Daniel-Douglas appears to be stabbed in the back.
3. There’s a shiny, pen-like object laying next to the body.
But if Sally didn’t murder Daniel-Douglas, then who did? There’s only one possible candidate. That crazy, off-the-wall Campaign Manager. And that’s just a working theory. -Redorkulous
